South African singer JR Player has just released his highly anticipated fourth studio album, 10 Years Plan, on September 6, 2024.
Distributed through Virgin Music Group Africa under his label Players On Play, the album showcases a fusion of Afrobeats, hip-hop, and elements of Amapiano,
highlighting JR Player's signature versatility. The production is led primarily by SOUNDSLUCID, alongside contributions from Dash Instrumentals and CVK Instrumentals.
10 Years Plan boasts an impressive lineup of guest features, including Vendaboy Poet, Mizo Phyll, Asa Tee, General, Ras Canly, Una Rine, Crazy Frazer, SoundSlucid, Osome Feyn, Racha Kill, Ramzeey, Eazy SA, Unaty Solomon, Crosswavee, Metro CMG, Prifix, CVK Instrumentals and Mickeyblack. The 16-track album offers a rich variety of sounds, from high-energy hits to emotional love songs.
The lead single, "Mendele," dropped on June 11, 2024, alongside a promo video, quickly rising on charts. The album artwork, which JR Player unveiled on his Facebook page on August 28, 2024, features a collage of his face alongside old photos, symbolizing his 10-year journey in the music industry. He explained that this art reflects his growth and accomplishments, aligning with the album's theme of reflection and celebration.
One standout track is “Muya wanga,” featuring Ramzeey and produced by CVK Instrumentals. This love song blends RnB with Tshivenda lyrics and highlights JR Player's ability to merge global sounds with local language, appealing to a wide audience. The track was recorded in Thohoyandou, South Africa, and its music video was set to premiere on YouTube on September 13, 2024.

JR Player held an exclusive listening session for 10 Years Plan on August 31, 2024, in Dar Es Salaam Tshikhudini, following a venue change from its original The private location. The event was a resounding success, giving fans an intimate preview of the album.
Since its release, 10 Years Plan has received glowing reviews from critics. OkrasmountzioN rated the album a perfect 10 out of 10, particularly praising the track "Mutambi," which features Mizo Phyll, Racha Kill, Osome Feyn, and SoundSlucid. The album debuted at number 27 on the iTunes charts within three days and continues to climb. The lead single "Mendele" also topped the Muzika Wa Afrika Top Charts.
